Senator Jacques Demers is a Canadian senator and a former head coach in the World Hockey Association and in the National Hockey League. He is a former analyst for Montreal Canadiens games on RDS.
“All Heart – fully – into everything that you do”:
Michael “Pinball” Clemons is a Canadian-American Vice-Chair for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Clemons also played with the Argos for twelve seasons, and twice served as their head coach. His No. 31 jersey is one of only four that have been retired by the Argos. He is one of their most famous former players and also one of the most popular professional athletes in the history of Toronto. Clemons has stated that he feels CFL football is the best football in the world.
“A Selfless Act Turns to Olympic Silver”:
Gilmore Junio Gilmore is a Canadian speedskater from Calgary. He competes primarily in the short distances of 500 m and 1000 m. Junio qualified to compete at the 2014 Olympic Games as part of the Canadian team. Junio made headlines at last month’s Winter Games in Sochi when he gave up his spot in the men’s 1,000-metre race to teammate Denny Morrison of Fort St. John, B.C., who went on to win the silver medal. Calgary’s Gilmore Junio earned a silver medal in the men’s 500-metre race at a World Cup long track speed skating event. Junio earned his third career World Cup medal, all coming over 500 metres. The Canadian won gold in Salt Lake City in November 2013 and silver in Nagano, Japan in December 2012.
