  2. Hello

I have a Nordic track elliptical that I would like to donate to a group. A pick up would be required. I tried the phone number for the Salvation Army and that doesn’t work. Do you have any other suggestions.

    • Hi Deirdre, there are multiple Thrift Store Locations for the Salvation Army in Halifax.
The website page will let you select the one closest to you, then call.

      DARTMOUTH COMMON NORTH THRIFT STORE
      118 Wyse Rd Dartmouth, NS B3A 1N7

      STRAWBERRY HILL THRIFT STORE
3667 Strawberry Hill St Halifax, NS B3K 5A8
      902-453-1880

      LAKE CITY THRIFT STORE

You could try the above, or maybe try calling your local high school. They would likely like an elliptical for their gym classes or teacher’s lounge for example.

      Hope this helps,
      Michelle

  3. I have a recumbent exercise bike and a treadmill, both in good working order, that I would like picked up as we no longer use. And a bureau. I can’t get through that number listed above to arrange pick ups. It rings “busy.” Is that still a valid number?

    • Hi Pam,
I called the HAND IN HAND (Society of Saint Vincent de Paul), and they said that they might take the bureau but not the exercise equipment.
and they suggested you try Parker Street Furniture Bank:
      For enquiries about receiving or
      donating furniture, please contact:
      Email: [email protected]
      Phone: 902-377-4775
      https://parkerstreet.org/contact/
Note that I have not vetted the Parker Street Furniture Bank organization yet so I can’t say if they are a charity or non-profit org or what exactly they are. Their website provided the above information and looks like they help the community.

You can also try contacting the Salvation Army Thrift Stores nearest to you:
7 Thrift Store Locations (drop offs): http://www.thriftstore.ca/nova-scotia/locations

Note that CharityWishList.ca is like a directory to help you locate charities near you interested in what you want to give. I do not collect anything myself, and you would need to contact the charity(s) of your choice directly to make arrangements or to ensure they will accept your items.

I hope the above info is helpful.
