I am located in downtown Ottawa and am looking to donate 4 bags of used (clean) clothing that I’ve had bagged since March 2021. I’m without a car so they will need to be picked up. Please let me know if there are any options for pick up.
Hi, thank you for wanting to donate the clothes. Could you tell me please if they are adult or children’ clothing and for male or female? It will help me with recommending an organization. Thanks, Michelle 613-859-3742
Hello. I have 2 large rubbermaid containers of women’s gently used clothing L and XL. Also shoes and purses…LOTS!
Most of the clothing is brand new and all is spring/summer.
I would like to donate as quickly as possible since more clothing is coming to us.
Please advise.
Thank you.
Hello Irene, thank you for asking. There are several options, for example, if the clothes are suitable for job interviews and workplace wardrobe then I suggest Dress for Success (drop off by appointment.) If not suitable then I suggest Saint Vincent de Paul. Or Tom Brown Respite Centre for example. Links to these and more are available on my website at:
https://charitywishlist.ca/select-province/ontario/ottawa/clothes-ottawa-area/
Thank you for your efforts to get these clothes into the hands of those that can use them. – Michelle Beaupre, CharityWishList.ca
Are there any organizations in the Ottawa area that would accept used/clean underwear?
Hi Rita, I have found any yet. If you find please let me know. Thanks
Hello:
I have 5 large bags of assorted women’s clothing in excellent condition
and would love to donate these items.
Do you know where in Ottawa anyone would be interested?
Many thanks,
Carla
Hi Carla, yes, many options in Ottawa. Some are listed in the Ottawa section for Clothing donations of this website. For example, if women’s clothes that could be worn for an office job, there’s Dress for Success. If other clothes (and office clothes too) Saint Vincent de Paul … here is the link to their contact info https://charitywishlist.ca/select-province/ontario/ottawa/clothes-ottawa-area/
If you want to call I can discuss at greater length some options to help you find the charity closest to you for what you want to give away. Hope this is helpful. Michelle – 613-859-3742
Hello – is there a version of “dress for success” for men? We have high quality men’s dress / office clothes.
Hi, Tricia, yes, the charity Saint Vincent de Paul has a program where they help by providing vouchers to shop in their stores so people can shop for business attire and it does not cost the person anything. (Many programs that help get people back into the workforce will send their participants there for example, said the lady I spoke to today at the charity and she suggests dropping the clothes off in person when the stores are open so someone takes them right from you instead of them risking being damaged in a bin. There are two locations Merivale Road and Wellington Street. Open 10 am – 5pm both are open Mon thru Saturdays except closed Sundays. Store locations: 1273 Wellington St West, Ottawa; and 1620 Merivale Rd, Nepean. Their phone number is 613-722-7166. They are listed on my website. Please confirm you received this reply. Thanks. Hope this is helpful. – Michelle Beaupre.P.S. And thank you for taking the time to find a new home for the clothes where they will be put to great use!
Hello I am wondering if there is any way to donate clothing to refugees in Ottawa. Women’s clothing and supplies
Hi Jaclyn, thank you for wanting to give clothing and supplies. If you want to donate exclusively to refugees, you may want to reach out to the Immigrant Women Services Ottawa. Their contact info is listed on the furniture page:
https://charitywishlist.ca/select-province/ontario/ottawa/furniture-home-office-ottawa-area/
Otherwise, the places listed on the clothing page service everyone so items donated might end up in the hands of refugees but could also end up with someone else in need.
Hope this is helpful,
Michelle Beaupre

Hi,
I know this is a bit late, but Carty House is a women’s house in Ottawa for refugee women. They accept clothing donations throughout the year when needed. Here is their link:

Hope this helps!
Thank you Christina, I will look into your suggestion. Much appreciated! Michelle Beaupre, CharityWishList.ca
Hi there. Do you know if Tom Brown is still looking for the above donations/if there might be anything they are more in need of/anything not listed?
Thanks so much!
Hi Lee, I requested an update from Tom Brown Respite Centre this morning by email. In the meantime, you are welcome to call them directly at T. 613-809-1731. Thank you for wanting to help. Sincerely,

I have a few bags of plus sized clothes to donate. One issue is that I have had clothing moths. They seem dormant now.. can you suggest someone to pick up clothes that will then be washed for sure?
Hi W Jean, I have contacted Caldwell Family Centre regarding your offer of the clothing. They are checking with their clientele and will contact you directly by email. Thank you for effort to find a new home for the clothing. – Michelle Beaupre, CharityWishList.ca
I have mens jeans, sweaters, shirts, polar fleece pants, scarfs.
Good quality and clean. I would prefer they are put into the hands of folks that could use them. I have checked with the Mission and Shepherds of good Hope. I’m in the east end and can drop items off.
Hi Liz, have you contacted the Caldwell Family Centre? Their contact info is on my website here. Or the Salvation Army Thrift Store? They have stores and donor welcome centres throughout Ottawa https://thriftstore.ca/locations/
Hi,
I have a few bags of clothing that would be great for teen girls or young women. I’m located in lower town but I don’t have a car to transport them. Are there any organizations that would come get them?
Hi Nicole, I have a call in to Big Brothers, Big Sisters to see if they are still picking up. I will get back to you as soon as I hear back from them. Then you would make the arrangements directly with them. Thanks for wanting to donate the clothes. – Michelle Beaupre, CharityWishList.ca
Hi,
I don’t have too much, but I do have a heavy winter coat that I no longer need. I didn’t want to throw it away. There are a few other items too. Where would it help?
Hi Will, there are a lot of great charities that would welcome your items including coat. For example, Caldwell Family Center. They are listed on the page you left your comment on. It would really depend on which charity is closest to you to bring the items to. If you would like me to figure out which is closest to you, you are welcome to let me know which part of Ottawa you are located in; or refer to the list on https://charitywishlist.ca/select-province/ontario/ottawa/clothes-ottawa-area/
I will also email you my response.
Hope this is helpful,
Michelle Beaupre
