Hello World!

earth&CWKJPG418x260Welcome to CharityWishList.ca! This is an introductory post from my newly redesigned website.

I created and trademarked CharityWishList.ca in 2005. Giving stuff away should be really easy – right? I learned it can be quite difficult and wanted to change that.

After a couple of years volunteering for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario in a communications capacity for special fundraising events I was looking for a new volunteer challenge. Since I was having such a frustrating experience trying to give a bunch of stuff away from an estate in a short period of time before the house sold, I decided to put my skills to good use and gather as much information as I could about which charities wanted what type of stuff and then post that information for others to easily and quickly have access to this information before folks give up trying to find a charity that wants what they want to give away. So much stuff gets wasted ending up in landfills simply because folks give up trying to find a charity that wants and will accept what it is that the person wants to give away.

I have kept this website going ever since, going on nine years this spring. Please look through this website first for information, and if you are still stuck trying to figure who can make use of that special something that you’re not quite sure what to do with, contact me. I’ll try to find a charity that wants what you want to give away, and then I’ll add that info to the contact information on this website for others to have access to when they want to give something similar away.

Who am I? I am Michelle Beaupre, and I have over 20 years of office experience, and a Bachelor of Social Sciences, Concentration Sociology (the study of man and society), and Concentration Music (well, that’s great for the soul anyways), from the University of Ottawa.

I would love to hear from you about how this website has been useful for you, or your organization; or maybe you have some suggestions on how I can make this site work even better for you and others in Canada. Thanks for stopping by and reading my new blog feature! Please tell others about CharityWishList.ca, thanks! Maybe say hi in my Blog comments? – Thanks! Michelle Beaupre, CharityWishlist.ca
